Scan Your Credit Report for Errors and Opportunities
Most consumers have at least one error on their credit report — and many don't know it. ScoreLens scans the text you paste for negative marks, items that may be too old, and medical collections under new CFPB thresholds. Your data never leaves your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I get my free credit report?
By law, you are entitled to one free credit report per year from each of the three major bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) through AnnualCreditReport.com — the only federally authorized free report site. Since 2023, weekly free reports have been permanently available. Download the report as PDF or text, then paste the relevant sections into ScoreLens.
Is it safe to paste my credit report into ScoreLens?
Yes. ScoreLens performs all analysis in your browser using JavaScript — the text you paste is never transmitted to any server. We cannot see, store, or access your report data. You can verify this by turning off your internet connection before pasting; the tool will still work.
How long can negative items stay on my credit report?
Under the FCRA, most negative items must be removed after 7 years from the date of first delinquency. Exceptions: Chapter 7 bankruptcy (10 years), unpaid tax liens (until paid, then 7 years), and certain judgments. Any item still reporting past these limits is a legal violation and must be removed upon dispute.
What is the medical collection under $500 rule?
In 2023, the three major credit bureaus voluntarily removed all medical collections under $500 from credit reports as part of the National Consumer Assistance Plan (NCAP). If you still see a medical collection under $500 on your report, you can dispute it directly with the bureau — these should not be appearing.
How accurate is ScoreLens?
ScoreLens is a keyword scanner, not a full credit report parser. It detects common negative terms and patterns but may miss items formatted differently by each bureau, or catch false positives on unrelated text. It is a starting point for your review — always verify every flagged item directly against your actual report before taking action.
